Grand Canyon Mountain Biking For an Exciting Outdoor Adventure

The Grand Canyon is one of the most interesting places in the United States. It is home to the most popular National Park in Arizona and spending time here can be fulfilling for anyone. Have you ever wondered what Canyon mountain biking feels like? Will you want to observe the Grand Canyon from the saddle of a bike rather than the seat of a car?

It is important to state here that biking in any Grand Canyon National Park is limited. Most of the trials do not allow mountain bikes and biking is not recommended on the main byways because of heavy traffic. To have a hitch-free mountain biking experience here, you will have to know the trails where biking is allowed and how to ride safely in the park.

Grand Canyon North Rim

This part of the park features the Rainbow Rim mountain bike trail. This trail, which is an 18-mile singletrack that resulted from a partnership between Grand Canyon and Kaibab National Forest. It connects five distinct points, including Paissawampitts, Fence, Locust, Timp, and North Timp.

Depending on how adventurous you are feeling, you can decide to ride 36-miles out-and-back or camp at any of the points and continue after a night rest. If the Grand Canyon doesn’t suit you for hiking, try Calistoga, California. The trail is quite good and safe for mountain biking. It also offers bikers great views of the Canyon. You will have an amazing wilderness experience thanks to the setting and the wildlife.

Grand Canyon South Rim

The South Rim has more options for mounting bikers. Near the South Entrance just outside the park boundary, you can find the trail. There are about three interconnected bike trails near Tusayan in the Kaibab National Forest.

Another important trail you can try is the Arizona Trail that takes off from Grandview Lookout Tower inside the park into the Kaibab National Forest. It has an exciting section along the rocky spine of the Coconino Rim. There are some dirt roads that intersect the trail, so you can create loops of varying lengths with a map.

Canyon mountain biking is an exciting adventure when you know where to go. Plan your adventure carefully and ride safely. If you are a lover of outdoor adventures, you will definitely have an amazing time when you go mountain biking in the Grand Canyon area.
