i really want to see dead man 2.
the stuff you’ve posted has fascinated me. it reminded me of when i was a 2nd year anthro and philosophy student. i came across bataille’s stuff on sacrifice, and it blew me away.
so i went to the library to find more. i couldn’t bear to read it.
maybe it was cos i was 19 and i’d never had sex or drugs. maybe it was cos i thought i was terrifically dark and complex and hard, with my goth and punk and nietzsche and existence-preceding-essence. i thought i was staring brazenly into the void. i was ashamed to realise that bataille took things too far for me… to an unthinkable place: the annihilation of subjectivity, the impossibility of control: the ultimate step i shrank from in terror.
i want to go back to that stuff now.
and i’m fascinated to see how you depicted it filmically.
