Three conventional philosophies of war.

Calamity Theory
Political Philosophy
Eschatological Philosophy

To these, I shall add:

Play Philosophy
War is a human characteristic of neoteny, ie., persistence of infantile play behavior into adulthood. Base Ball, for instance, is another form of “stone throwing.” In some parts of the world, such stone throwing is still practiced against defenseless enemy such as woman. “Let those among you who never sinned cast the first stone.” So, we enjoy playing base ball.

Later came the bow and arrow. There are two kinds of archery. One is the “direct firing” archery.
Shoot at the target using the direct trajectory. The other is the “high angle” archery. Attach the enemy with a volley of arrows travelling along a high angle trajectory.

Base ball is a direct trajectory stone throwing play. I am yet to see a pitcher who can throw a ball using a high angle trajectory.

Perhaps, a new kind of base ball may be invented in which there are two pitchers. One pitcher throw the ball with a flat trajectory; the other pitch does likewise with a high angle trajectory. There are two batters, of course. Both of them have to strike a ball in order to run to the first base. And so on.

When a neoteny of human behavior becomes eschatological or political, or both, god cannot help us.
Morality and ethics are too often something about someone we don’t like. I think Oscar Wilde said something like that.

Good and evil are born from a same mother. Buddha knew it. No more killing, he said. Ho more religion of sacrifice. Aztecs never heard him. So they got sacrificed themselves. They were good ball players.
