Sam Reinders takes photographs. This is her job. And she likes it a lot.
In the last couple of months photography has allowed her to meet some pretty interesting people – from the extraordinary to the ordinary to somewhere in between. There was the triple murderer on death row, Tant Sienie calling the shots at the Godfather in Springbok, an HIV positive woman and her chicken in a Kibera slum, the furniture maker called Pinocchio and the president called George Bush. To name a few.

It’s allowed her to fly in Air Force One, sail the Southern Ocean on an icebreaker, climb Annapurna, drive the steppes of Outer Mongolia in a 1960s VW bus and, most importantly, it continues to allow her to have a balcony overlooking Table Mountain.
Her work has appeared in quite a few places: From The York Times to the Laugh It Off annual, from Time magazine to, no doubt, a newspaper that has been used to wrap up your fish and chips from the place on the corner.
