Curated by Erica Fraser
12 May - 25 June 2009
Once aware of the unique underground Reservoir exhibition space at Oliewenhuis Art Museum, Erica Fraser made contact with fifteen fellow Pretoria-based artists and curated a show specifically for this exhibition space that includes painting, drawing, sculpture, animation, photography, printmaking and glass art. Presentation of such an exhibition, involving well known artists and spanning so many different media, is indeed unique.
The artists involved are André Naudé, Annette Pretorius, Daniel Mosako, Diane Victor, Diek Grobler, Erica Fraser, Frikkie Eksteen, Marijke de Kock, Marinda du Toit, Michael Teffo, Peter Sibanda, Retha Buitendach, Retief van Wyk, Rina Stutzer, Susanna Smith, Sybrand Wiechers and B&B Magwasa.
The show revolves around the atmosphere and architecture of the Reservoir. The space leads one to think of water, reserves, underground movements, bunkers and burial.
Maloka Auctioneers will auction the artworks at the opening on 12 May 2009 at 19:00 in the Reservoir. A portion of the proceeds will be allocated to the Friends of Oliewenhuis Art Museum.
Art works can be viewed and buyers can register from 14:00. Everyone is welcome and registration for the auction is free of charge.
This is a unique opportunity to buy original artwork by well-known artists at very reasonable prices. So bring cash, your cheque book or pay by direct internet transfer.
